The European RoboCup Association e. V. (ERA e. V.) was legally established in 2020 to bundle the activities of the European RoboCup regional committees and to jointly promote them.
The association pursues exclusively and directly charitable purposes. Its primary focus is on education in the fields of robotics and artificial intelligence. The objectives are:
-
Promotion of general and vocational education
Providing learning opportunities in robotics and AI through educational programs, workshops, competitions, training sessions, and other formats for children, young people, and adults. -
Promotion of international cooperation and understanding
Strengthening global collaboration and intercultural exchange through international educational projects, joint activities, and partnerships. -
Promotion of science and research
Supporting scientific work, development, and research in robotics and artificial intelligence, insofar as these activities complement the association’s educational mission.
RoboCup is an international educational community supported by dedicated teams at schools, universities, and extracurricular learning centers throughout Europe.
The RoboCup Major Leagues are divided into four areas: RoboCupSoccer, RoboCupRescue, RoboCup@Home, and RoboCupIndustrial. Each of these leagues sets its own priorities in order to teach practical skills in robotics, computer science, and artificial intelligence and to offer learners realistic challenges.
RoboCupJunior is RoboCup’s global student competition. It enables children and young people to get started in robotics and programming at an early age in a motivating way. In many European countries, local RoboCupJunior representatives coordinate activities and support schools and learning centers in setting up relevant projects.
Regional committees manage RoboCup activities in their respective countries. The European RoboCup Association acts as an umbrella organization and strengthens European cooperation in the field of education related to robotics and AI.
